I had an issue with how a situation was handled. Mark was very proactive in getting in contact with me and making sure the issue was explained, that I understood where the other lawyer was coming from and that we came to a middle ground before getting off the phone with me. You can tell a lot from a business and from a person by when a problem arises and how its handled and Mark was on top of it. Hes always been very nice, prompt and professional and same with his staff. Him and his team have done a very good job of walking me through the process and explaining what to expect. Hes also more then fair and you can expect a honest upfront lawyer - which can be difficult to find.

I called in inquiring about a divorce and how it all happens. I had 2 people call me back with in a hour and in a hour maybe 2 I was talking with the lawyer. I highly recommend him and his staff. They are curious, prompt and they care. Divorce is the hardest thing we will go through minus losing a kid and his team will be retained. He even called me back himself the next day to see how I was. Great service.

Beware of this lawyers office before hiring them as your attorney to represent you unless you want to basically just donate your money to them! I honestly wouldn't give any stars if I had an option. When trying to find an attorney who would help me with my filing an answer and helping me with my ex husbands file for modification of child support, I was told that I could have everything done and filed to have my new order for the retainer of approximately $3500. I had my fianc also hearing the conversation that Desiree Hartwigsen, who was chosen to represent me, had told me she would do to help me. The nice thing that they DID do, was allow me to make the payment in half, because I ultimately couldn't come up with the entire retainer up front, and my daughters modification to the current order would have won by default had I not found someone quickly, and that meant that my ex would have gotten everything he was asking for, which included things such as allowing him to move my 10 year old out of state on a geographic restriction, cutting my time down from every other weekend, to one weekend an entire month and first right of refusal so no one could pick her up if I had to go out of town for work if that ever happened. I now understand why they say lawyers are sneaky! I paid the entire balance, granted, nothing had ever been filed besides the answer responding to the filing of what my ex had started. I was totally taken advantage by this office, and was sent an invoice for an additional $3500 to retain services on top of the $3500 I already paid. Like I said, the ONLY thing that had been done, was filing the answer and maybe answering some emails, but we didn't even go to court or present that to a judge for what my ex and I had finally almost come to an agreement on, for temporary orders. Well, when I questioned the additional charges and let Desiree that I would have to refer back to the first call we had, since I thought I had recorded it, she told me she was VERY disappointed that I did that. I did NOT record anything for malicious reasons, and if I did do it, it was only for referencing back to it later if I needed. But, if she didn't do anything wrong then why would that bother her?! She said she NEVER told me that the first retainer would cover everything and I would need to pay that additional $3500 bill if I wanted to continue with their services. I was just informed by my ex husband that she requested to not represent me anymore and their office dropped me as a client when I paid them to do a legal service for me, and they didn't even do the work!! I believe that is a total rip off, and very unethical for this office to do that! So, because I have the right to record my conversations if I want to, which I actually found out that I must have forgotten, but I still had my fianc hear her say what she would do for me for what price, and that was why we went with her in the first place. Don't lie to people and then take their money and drop them as a client when you really haven't even done anything besides gather information from me!! For that, I hope karma for doing this to someone who was trying to show her daughter that she cared enough to fight for her, but then got totally taken advantage by a lawyer, comes back at you cause you know what you did to me was not right!! I know that if you were in my situation, and some lawyer did this to you, it would be something that you wouldn't like either!! I also see that you've done this to other people too! Reading other reviews and the response from the attorney, I want to mention that I also would keep in contact with the attorney and call often to find out things and my fianc and I were very upfront about what was going on. My fianc even had asked Mr. Childress if our attorney was working WITH the opposing counsel, because he was very well versed in child custody from his own custody that he had gone through and he felt that I was being told things that were not totally accurate. When I would call, or email, I wouldnt get a response back for days at a time.

I was nothing but impressed with Mark and his associate lawyer Elizebeth Barr. I spoke to Mark himself for the consultation and it wasn't someone asking me for my zip code, I also called him on a Saturday and he picked up on the 2nd ring willing to help me solve my problem. I explained my situation to him over the phone and he said he had a lawyer for me with a background specific to my type of case. Elizebeth Barr was assigned to me and did a fantastic job. She showed up and handled business exactly as she said she would (we won). As well as explained everything to me as it was unfolding and I felt like she had my best interest at heart. Always have legal representation or people will try and take advantage of you! I would highly recommend Mark Childress and Elizebeth Barr, top notch attorneys.

I had retained Mark quickly on a custody case, immediately laying out the history of what has happened to date and explaining that this case is bound to become a beast of a case. Mark explained that it is a fairly simple custody battle, even though opposing counsel is requesting 100% rights and zero mother-visitation. I trusted in him and retained him. Paid the $5000 up front, and acknowledged how i am glad he is taking it up. I had called the court once to ask about a hearing date and they communicated a new date to me. this is the date I gave Mark. a month later, prior to the date we were set on, I receive a court order ordering me to give up my son immediately, and that I have lost all rights to my son and that I am a danger (i am a very safe, caring, and healthy mother. and have nothing against me). I immediately switched lawyers who were able to show me that the reason I lost my son is because MARK CHILDRESS did not write a response to the court until an entire month after it was due. I asked Mark personally about this and he responded that it was my fault for making it sound like I made an appearance and giving him the wrong date. This is nothing but excuses since any good lawyer should be able to do a quick look up on the case and get the correct dates, and he should be fully aware of what has and has not happened. I now have a very caring and very amazing lawyer who is trying to fix the case. unfortunately, for months long I have had to hear the judge destroy me and my rights simply because of Marks neglect to the case. And this is not even mentioning his continuous spelling mistakes, unprofessional emails, unavailability, week-late responses and harsh tone of voice when speaking. No attorney should neglect your case to this extend this is not just an accident.. Highly dissatisfied!

Even though I lost my custody case for my son, by no means was it Mr. Childress fault at all. He tried very hard keeping me informed and we tried everything he stated we needed to do. He was and is very good at what he does but when your opponent isn't getting paid, I mean the attorney for my ex husband wasn't charging him at all so she just put the case off and then eventually got the case transferred because she had put off the case for so long, that she eventually got my case moved to another county where my kid lives in with his biological father(sperm donor). With her services being free im just wondering what did he do for her services considering he cheated on me during the marrage and is still with the GIRL right now. Wouldnt surprise me if they took it out in trade. It wasn't a loss for Mr. Childress, it was a loss for me when the case got moved to another county.Mr. Childress expected that it would happen that way too and gave me all the advice he could under these circumstances. He didn't judge, he just gave the case to me straight up and kept to his word. He is very smart and seems to enjoy what he does for a living which makes it very believable at what he does. Which makes it perfect that he is an Attorney. He knows the ropes very well. You should definitely hire him in any law case he is willing to take it on your behalf. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. Thank you for all your advice with my certain jacked up situation.

This guy is a fraud. Never use his services. He lied after an agreed amount of only 1500 dollars to draft and file a motion in court. He only drafted it and kept the money claiming it had cost 1500 just to draft the documents only after I asked for a refund. What a joke. Hope you can find somewhere warm with 1500 dollars looser.

We thought we were in for a long, difficult, confrontational dispute. They came to the meeting determined to have their own way and stop what we were trying to do. Mr. Childress was firm, calm, and matter-of-fact with both sides...he made my grandson's mom feel like she wasn't being railroaded, and the situation calmed down. He paid close attention to our situation, and worked to solve our problem so that we could make many of the later decisions on our own without going back to court. He's fast, he's reasonable, he's approachable, and he listens. I can't imagine a better attorney if you need help in his area of expertise.

My experience with Mr. Mark Childress has been horrible.. hes very unprofessional and my case isnt even complicated... his response was I have to pay my bills! ..wow. I was willing to pay him $500.00 tomorrow just to write up a document and then pay him the remainder and he he thatWas a joke to him.. he charges 3,750.00 + 250.00 per hour when theres no property involved and my husband and I have only one child together. He was very rude and actually hung up on me.. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this attorney. No heart only out for the money. Only 10 years experience. I found a much better attorney. i would give this lawyer a negative rating if i could. i would not hire this lawyer at all. he is nothing but a liar. my ex husband was fighting to modify child custody over lies.my exhusband won through this Lawyer lying for him. Now I lost my kids for good because of his lies. it was suppose to be joint custody. I see them when we agree. that was a lie. My ex and his wife convinced my kids I am no good and I am not mom. the other woman is mom. he will not let me see or talk to my kids. My ex said only when he can supervise. it said nothing about that in my court papers. my kids are now 12 and 5 next month. it is ripping me apart being away from them and there is nothing i can do because no money. so if your ex hires this lawyer kiss your kids goodbye forever because you will never see them again.

Worst attorney I've dealt with in my life. Was referred to him by my sister who works with his aunt. I had a fairly simple divorce that I needed assistance with. He's incredibly unresponsive. Takes him days to return an email. Once he called me to yell at me because in an email I wrote to him I told him I needed his legal advice quickly. He wanted to lay out the 'ground rules' on how I'm allowed to communicate with him. He told me if I wanted him to be more responsive, I could pay him $50,000/month and he'd only focus on me. He drafted the original petition in about 30 minutes by changing the names on an old petition he already had. I had to point out an error that still referred to the other case. I prepared and sent him the inventory and appraisal without any assistance from him. When we finally got to the mediation, he just wanted to get out of the there. Never fought for anything. Just wanted to type up the settlement agreement in real time so he could be done with it. He told me he really hoped it could finish soon so he could get to the golf course. He always gave me the impression that I wasn't worth his time. My little divorce just wasn't that important to him. In my opinion, he added literally zero value to my divorce and caused my settlement to be worse than it would have been had I been represented by competent counsel. My strong advice is to steer clear of this guy.

In Aug 2017 i was looking for an attorney so i was reading reviews on every attorney on google i saw Marks and i was like yes i found the perfect attorney! But what a suprise i was in for... Mark Childress is the worst attorney i have ever had hired. We went to court to get full custody and he said that would be easy because we had proof that the home was unsafe... A RECORDING that was leagal to bring into court. Also... the other party didnt even have an attorney. You know what Mark did... He was lazy didnt even bring our proof into court took 3500 went to court twice and he didnt do anything. I would not hire this attorney ever he will take your money and try to get more more from you without him having to do anything. I dont know about you but i work hard for my money and im not going to give it to someone thats not going to do what they are supposed to.

I see a review with my name on here and I know I wouldn't write a good review for them. I was taking advantage of. I have a hard domestic violence family law case. They were no help at all. They didn't even try and I know they didn't care. They took my money than on top of not doing anything but mediation all day that went no where they billed me an extra $5000. The agreement was a fixed rate as long as no other hearing. We didn't even see judge. I've done better pro SE.
