Barrett handled my divorce and custody issues with professionalism, courtesy and respect for my time and money. When my ex didnt comply with the mediation agreement a year later, I enlisted Barrett to handle this issue as well. I had successful outcomes both times I have had to take an issue to York County Family Court. Barrett is a competent attorney, easy to talk to, and I recommend him to anyone in York County in need of a family lawyer.

During the mediation process I always felt he was better prepared than the opposing attorney and confident he would fight to represent me in my best interest. At the time of my divorce, I had to show up all by myself with no representation because I was not only going through a divorce AND unemployed, but also my attorney turned his back on me as well. Yes, he was paid in FULL at the time of the sale of my home, but I sat at that table all by myself at my divorce hearing and I had NO representation in helping me sell my house when my ex chose to use an ex felon to sell our home and it took over a year to sell our home AND we ended up taking a $100K loss on the sell of that home. I was very unhappy with this experience. I paid him $10K and I sat at the table of my divorce all by myself.... After I was unemployed and unable to make his payments, he quit taking my calls and answering my questions. AGAIN, yes he was paid in full at the sale of the home, but I was left hanging and fending for myself. He turned his back on me when I was not able to make payments to him, but again... He was PAID IN FULL AT THE SALE OF MY HOME AND I HAD ALWAYS MADE THAT CLEAR TO HIM THAT I WOULD PAY HIM AT THE SALE OF MY HOME AFTER I HAD LOST MY JOB. IT WAS NEVER MY INTENTION TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HIM. I DO ALWAYS PAY MY BILLS.

Where to begin? Barrett turned out to be the stereotypical lawyer we all hate to invest our valuable time and money with. Classic big lawyer talk, you have a great case for modification, by the end of this you will be receiving money, to excessive over billing and what really matters is results rights? Didn't accomplish one thing I had requested but he was rewarded consistently with thousands of dollars for not producing one single result and then has the audacity to continue to bill me even more? At what point do lawyers actually care about their record and fighting to get their clients what they deserve? If you want results, do not go with this law firm. If you want to donate money for the sake of donating and expect nothing in return, this is a perfect law firm for you. It should also be known that this lawyer will not entertain any feedback whatsoever. He will threaten to drop you as a client? Who wants to work with someone like that?

I wouldnt even give him one start but I had to do it to post a review. In my opinion, he absolutely blew my initial divoce hearing in court. He advised, me to take my ex to court and I got thrown out of my house. He showed up unprepared and offered no statements in my favor. He even stumbled with his words. He then billed out my full retainer for one meeting with him and 10 minutes in court. I switched to Chris Thompson at Baxter Law Firm and she handled my case like a pro. My ex even made fun of how bad she thought he was in court. I absoulutely would not recommend him.

The worst possibly scenario!! Ive had custody over my son for 3 out of his 5 years and needed Barrett to finalize everything through trial. As we approached the year mark a expedited hearing was filed against us and the trial needed to be scheduled and Barrett changes the financial agreement on me. Of course this part of the agreement was verbal so I couldnt do anything. But due to his actions I wasnt able to continue affording him, went into a hearing without representation and LOST EVERYTHING Ive gained over the last 5 years. I never wouldve dreamt a high school friend would put myself and my son in such a horrible place. If you have questions he has knowledge but you better remember this is only a business to this guy. If you expect a heart or conscious go elsewhere.
