I year ago I hired Janet Mertes to help me with my divorce. it was a horrible time as anyone who has gone through a divorce would know. I walked in Janet's office broken and wanting just to be done with my ex. Janet and I discussed my case and she advised me of my legal rights and what I deserved when this divorce was final. Throughout the whole process Janet and her assistant Beth kept me informed and explained the legalities to me. They where very professional and had my back at every turn. I year later I am very happy I listened to her advise. I definitely will refer her to all my family and friends!

Janet L. Mertes is mediocre lawyer. Does not have compassion nor experience she professes to have. Completely disregards any concerns or request of her own client, literally. Did not represent myself in ANY way. I wish I had taken the other complaints against her I have seen seriously, unfortunately I was in a rush situation when she was hired. My only guess for her complete disregard of her client, is that if you are struggling financially, she does not have any reason to to fight for you. But also feel she is not quite educated in complicated factors that often accompany family matters. Most only get one chance in whatever thier legal matter is, do NOT take that chance with Janet! I will be happy to clarify or explain to anyone considering hiring her...

Horrible representation, seems inexperienceD at practicing family law. She is unskilled at mediation. Janet has horrible communication. She returns calls or emails when she wants to. I felt so poorly prepared for court hearings. To top it off, she's unprofessional and rude.
