Before I called Ms Hartleys office, I extensively researched best attorney in Ventura county and was impressed with Ms Hartley. The receptionist after consulting with Ms Hartley was able to bring me in the same day after listening to my call of desperation and confusion about divorce process.When I met Ms Hartley, I felt an immediate relieve that I made the right decision to hire her for my divorce case. Ms Hartley and staff were very welcoming, compassionate, empathetic and understanding. Ms Hartley was attentive and very knowledgeable of family laws. She helped me set realistic expectations and directed me to make decisions in the best interest of my children and not use my emotions.I had a very rough case as my ex and his four attorneys at different times (yes he changed 4 attorneys in the past 5 years) thought of every trick in the book and unreasonably raised issues to increase litigation costs. Ms Hartley made extensive effort to reduce costs by negotiating in my children and I best interest while empowering me. Ms Hartley really cares for her clients. She is tough in court and fights fairly and sensibly. I have been through unbearable five years of divorce process but Ms Hartley has always been by my side to help me through it all. If I were given the option to turn back time, I would still choose Ms Hartley as my attorney.

Prior to contacting Hartley Lamas I had consulted 5-6 other attorneys in Ventura County. At each consultation I learned the attorneys fees and how said fees were calculated but I learned little to nothing about anything else so after each consultation I left feeling confused, defeated and hopeless... Carla Hartley was my saving grace. From the second my call was answered by HL staff, I felt a sense of relief. I was treated with kindness and understanding and there were questions answered and information given that I didnt even know I needed to know, like did I have to contact my future exs attorney as the letter I received from said attorney stated and when did my ex file since I had no idea this was coming till I received that letter from my exs attorney. At my consultation Carla started by telling me a little bit about the firm and a bit about herself then she asked about ME! She wanted to know my story and why I was in need of her services. I was an emotional wreck and truth be told, very little of that consultation sunk in but I will never forget what Carla said as she wrapped up our meeting... Youve been treated like sh*t for a very long time... Im not going to let you be treated like that anymore. Its been a year and a half of uphill battles with my ex and I struggle with the financial burden/stress that divorce brings and there are times that I question all. the. things but I have never questioned or regretted my decision to choose Hartley Lamas. My questions/concerns are ALWAYS addressed quickly and completely. My representative at court appearances, Pat Lamas, makes sure Im as prepared as humanly possible and even though she has to be hardcore, shes nothing but kind to me. The entire staff is warm and helpful and I appreciate that so much! What I appreciate most is while I understand my divorce is business for the firm, the firm understands that Im going through the emotional side of divorce and they respect that. My divorce journey isnt over and I pray I never find myself in need of a divorce attorney again BUT if I do, Ill be back at Hartley Lamas

Bob Maxwell and his entire team were nothing short of amazing throughout my entire case which got dragged out over a long period of time by my ex. The ENTIRE team supported me from the start of my custody battle to the end. I was a person to them and it meant the world. In response to the person below with complaints about staff and professionalism in the office... the paralegals and secretaries are insanely capable, care deeply, and are amazing at what they do. A good lawyer spends a good deal of their time in the court room and the rest of the team takes care of the clients while the lawyers are indisposed. There were times when Bob was busy fighting for someone else. I was greatful that he did not drop what he was doing to get back to me if he was in the middle of another persons court date. I would not want a lawyer who dropped someone elses battle because I was having a crisis. That would mean that when it was my turn in court he might drop the ball on me! He never did, and neither did his team who were highly skilled at handling anything I might need while Bob was busy fighting for someone else. There was never a time when something important got missed and there were many times when Bob or his team called me after hours if an issue needed to be addressed outside of office time. I cannot say enough about Bob Maxwell and the staff of lawyers, paralegals, and secretaries that work in this office. how many paralegals does it take, to defend a case! she has charged me while she was on medical leave with 7 different people! her staff are poor at best, they are teenagers, just out of college or her children which she favors; they are uneducated. she is so unprofessional, dishonest in their billing and lies to the patrons! she goes on medical leave to give the firm more time and charge you while she is out! this firm is horrible. they lie about billng then come back to you and say you missed emails which leads to charges from the staff. if dressed, look like hookers or mis-dressed their clothes are distressed, did you just get out of bed. they say they do things and then cant find items they did you have to represent the items to them to prove you ablity. this firms is just a super sucker for money, what firm has a door knob/doorbell locked at their firm? its cause their are scared of getting attacked, physically! i personally would slap them all! i would personally complain about the admins who lie to the attorneys, if it was legal reporting the small claims courts as they lie about fees. i have filed a case against them! i would never deal with this lying firm again! I DO NOT WANT TO BE TRASHY BUT THIS GIRL IS A TAKER!
