I was quite lucky to have found Terri Ryan, at the law office of Kelley Whalen. I had been researching wills and estate documents for a while, but never really got a 'good vibe' from anyone until I spoke with Terri. I got everything I needed at a fair price. When the time came to come into the office to sign all the documents, I was happy to find out Terri and I were 'kindred spirits'. I have dealt with many other law firms and this one I would rate the overall best. Mr. Whalen and Mr. Kay handled a probate litigation matter for me Not only is Mr. Whalen knowledgeable but also extremely courteous and is obviously concerned that a client is understanding what is happening in his case. Mr. Kay is very precise and very direct which is what I like in a lawyer who goes to court. However, the real special thing about this law firm is its staff. I am not going to take the space to name everyone I dealt with but every one of them was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I didn't want to be involved in the matter that I brought to them but I am very happy that I did.

Terri Ryan, legal assistant, has been fantastic in helping to answer my questions. I have not had any interaction with the attorney yet but optimistic about this being the right law firm to help my family out. Kelley Whalen and his excellent office staff helped me with my Estate Planning some years ago, and I have been going to them when matters in my life require legal advice ever since. They are always kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. When you are in a situation where you need a lawyer, that's sort of everything you hope for. In my mind, they are like having a good local auto mechanic or a dentist. You need one for routine maintenance, but in an emergency, it is hugely reassuring to know you have a good one.

I used to work for this firm and the attorney, Kelley Whalen, is a joke. He screams at his employees and cusses them out all the time. The office only takes clients with a legal plan through their employer. He was so behind in preparing estate plans for over 200 clients so I was hired. I not only wrote all the estate planning documents for his clients, I also presided over the signing ceremonies. There were no witnesses present as required by law, so the clients signatures were 'witnessed' after the fact by his other employees. After 3 months of working for him, I had caught up all the estate plans. Kelley Whalen then decided to let me go on the grounds that I lived in Austin and he wanted all his employees to live in Georgetown (again, against the law).So glad I got out of there.

I don't normally write reviews, but I truly appreciate Kelley and his OM Terri! They went above and beyond to help me with my pro se case when the judge said I was missing some attachments. I had called multiple lawyers in Gtown trying to find help with what I was missing, and their offices either refused to take a look or wanted to charge a ridiculous amount. By the time I spoke with Terri, I was in tears. She managed to arrange a same day phone call with Mr. Whalen who then took me page by page of what I was missing and gave me some great advice. The price was very reasonable and worth every penny. Two days later I was able to get the judge to sign my paperwork. Thank you both again so much!!

Seriously wonderful service, I really appreciated how Terri took the time to communicate with me via several platforms and was not only patient but understanding of my peculiar schedule (working nights makes it rather hard to keep up with anything business related) 100% would recommend. Had a HORRIBLE experience with Kelley Whalen Law Firm in TX. They charged my credit card for services that I NEVER received. I hired and paid this law firm $550 on June 4, 2018 to review 2 leases and to give me legal advice. The advice was NEVER given to me, either in oral form or written form. I called their office on June 21, 2018 at 1:10 PM PST and spoke to Terri. I told Terri that I would be doing a charge back on my credit card because I had paid that money for services not received. Terri said, 'There is no need to do a charge back because we will issue you a credit on your credit card.' One year later, I am still waiting for the credit that the firm promised to issue. Have tried reaching them numerous times but haven't received anything from them, neither the money nor the service.

So thankful I looked passed all the OLD reviews and gave them a chance! They were amazing!! Friend, kind, and took my case seriously as if it were their own issue! I would definitely recommend them to anyone!!!

First of all, Once I posted my situation on the Austin Bar Assn. site, I received a phone call from Mr. Whalen's office within 2 minutes. No kidding! Even though I heard from other firms soon after that, I appreciated how quickly his assistant responded, and set up a consult for the next day. Our phone conversation was lengthy, Mr. Whalen had already reviewed my questions and concerns, and knew what he needed to ask of me. All in all, exceedingly responsive and I am moving forward with Mr. Whalen. He also has 37 years of experience in the area in which we are dealing, which sealed the deal for me.

Just when you think you hit rock bottom, check out this Law Firm. Staff were extremely helpful when they took on my case. I didnt know what to expect, but Im so glad I gave them a chance. You wont be disappointed!

The lack of communication in this attorneys office is extremely frustrating. Consider yourself lucky if you get a phone call back or a reply to your email in a timely manner, or at all. There is so much miscommunication between themselves and between them and clients- even more so because they prefer not to see anyone in person and only handle matters through phone/email. Alfred Kay was the attorney I was working with and he talks to you in a belittling manner that made me sincerely feel as if even he was not on my side.

We had an AEP free 30 minutes consultation through work with Austin Community College. We contacted their office to schedule the consultation. We then received several emails from legal assistant Terri Ryan explaining to us that the consultation would be a waste of time and that the only way for us to get any information would be to sign up for all their exorbitant hourly and retainer fees. We then wrote another email as they requested answering their questions and writing a 'short' description of our issue. Their response again was a longer form email again discouraging us from the consultation and encouraging us to hire their services. No consultation would ever be scheduled. And they wonder why everybody despises lawyers.

I am so impressed with this staff at this Law Firm. They are very helpful, friendly, and organized. When looking for a law firm, this is the place you want to go.

Wish I could give zero. I had an issue with my home warranty not fixing something that should be covered. My work provides a free 30 minute consult. I was told that they wanted $375 to look at my contract or I couldnt have the consult. This is their response Your case will be governed by the terms of your specific, signed contract or warranty. There should be terms within your contract that relate to the issue of repairs.' Keep in mind that its a brand new home and EVERYTHING is covered for the first year. This place is a joke.

I received a referral to this law firm through my employee assistance program which included a free consultation with the attorney and then a certain percentage discount off the hourly rate when I booked the services of the firm. When we contacted the attorney via email, my wife and I explained this numerous times via email and the paralegal/receptionist kept emailing us back with questions and asking us how we planned on paying, etc. Even after we explained that should we end up retaining the services of the attorney after the consultation, we would pay with funds from our checking account, and answering the numerous questionnaires that she sent us, once we explained that our EAP provided us with a 30 minute visit with the attorney first, she stopped responding to us. They basically wasted our time, I dont believe the firm has any idea how the EAP system works and they were very unprofressional. If this is the way they work with customers before they even retain them as clients, I would hate to see the way they treat you once they start billing you. I would not recommend them at all.

Do not work with these people ABSOLUTELY horrible experience! I was after advice on what we can do with university bills. I am not from USA so was needing help for my husband and I. We were wanting to know how we could make payments after living in the UK and my husbands parents making all the payments for the entire loan life from 2004/6. His father stopped making payments in 2015 which we had no idea about so it went into debt collection. We wanted to pay but need help sorting this. We only found this out a month ago that the University bills still were going. So needed advice on how we sorted this out. Alfred Kay was the worst communicator, and probably the rudest man Inhave ever talked to. EVERYTIME we spoke, he would cut me off and not listen, he said he emailed when he did not, he says he calls when he does not, but instead of listening just yells and talks over you, and at the same time talks down to you, I was paying him for advice!!! He clearly did nothing read my emails on the background of the case, but did not care either. I have NEVER in my life dealt with such a rude man! I had to hang up on him and I will speak with another lawyer firm. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They were an option through my work to use through the Hyatt Group I will also be complaining to them on the ill treatment. Check YELP reviews also, I wish I had read these before I called them. Alfred Kay is clearly a terrible lawyer and person!

Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this firm as much as you can. I asked them to protest my property tax on my primary residence, and they went and protest it on a different property. Even for the property that they went and protest for me, they did a terrible job, and I had to redo everything with a different firm. On top of that, their customer service is terrible. I won't use them again.

I made a appointment with Kelley after waiting a week to get on his schedule only to be told my meeting would be with his secretary. I told her I had legal questions I needed answered regarding my case and would like to speak to the attorney I hired. He finally called me back and was extremely rude at the fact he had to take time out his busy schedule to speak with his client, he was not only talking down to me but was being very disrespectful by talking over me, not allowing me to finish a sentence. I was in total shock at his level of professionalism, and needless to say he is no longer my attorney.

Don't use him! It took a week to just get a phone consultation and he said he would start working on our case (this was a friday) and call us back the next Monday. His secretary (Corrine) didnt call back until Thurday and left a message saying they have references to lawyers closer to us. Apparently an hour away is too far! TWO WEEKS WASTED and now the child is in danger!!!! They also told us he is going on vacation and wont be around to take the case. That information would have been nice to have in the first place! Secretary is rude and wont let you speak to Mr. Whalen. Save your time and money and find someone else!!And for you Patrick Ryan, you have no clue what goes on in people's lives so its best you keep your mouth shut about others.

Mr. Whalen handled several financial matters for me after my husband's passing. His staff were conscientious and Mr. Whalen handled matters to my satisfaction. A kind man.
