In April of 2019, I was blindsided and thrown into a scenario involving a child custody dispute with our childrens mother almost 3 years after what most would consider, an amicable divorce. I did not retain an Attorney as part of the divorce and essentially just settled and walked away with Joint Conservatorship of the children with their mother. But our children are our children and we as parents will do anything to protect them at all costs - John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down ones life for ones friends. The same holds true for loving parents who are willing to do the same for their children. As a result of being forced into modification of child custody of our children, I did not step down as I did during the divorce and reached out to friends and was referred to Kelly Decker of Decker Poole, PLLC. Since then, Ive been working closely with Kelly and her staff for more than a year now. From the very beginning I assumed I was at a disadvantage, because I had this presumption that family courts favor mothers more so than fathers. What started out as a simple case has evolved into becoming more complicated than Kelly and I could have predicted in the beginning. In my mind, it was a David versus Goliath scenario. My experience over the last year has made it clear that my assumption was completely off base. Kelly is a top notch Attorney and her support staff and other Attorneys are some of the hardest working, most caring, and sympathetic people Ive ever met. As a result of my case, Ive seen my fair share of other opposing counsel Attorneys and Firms that Kelly has faced head on. I cant begin to describe how privileged I am to have Kelly standing by my side in court. Hands down, shes INCREDIBLE at what she does. Truth be told, she has never held anything back from me; she shoots straight, both the good and/or bad, regardless of how much something she says may hurt. I truly appreciate that she doesnt sugarcoat anything, which I believe every client deserves. She is a loving mother, with family and children of her own, and understands the intricate dynamics involved with relationships involving mothers and fathers, especially those in strained situations where courts have to intervene. Her presence in the court room is unrivaled and it is there where she excels. To date, there has been no close comparison to any of the opposing counsel shes gone toe to toe with. Shes a true professional and conducts herself in the courtroom, as such.

Marcy is not only passionate about what she does, she has the brains and the drive to get the job done! In todays world lawyers tend to get a bad rap.. I get it. I have personal friends that are lawyers but I am very cautious with my recommendations. That being said, I have no reservations recommending Marcy Akers Freeman! Kelly assisted with my divorce and she was amazing through the entire thing. She is knowledgeable and realistic. She wont convince you to over reach and displays compassion and sympathy throughput the process. Furthermore, she got the judge to agree to my ex signing a voluntary parental relinquishment of my son, which I hear is actually pretty difficult. Her and her entire staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly throughout processes that are naturally difficult. I would definitely hire her again.
