I used Mrs. Perkins in the past and she was amazing! I had a completely different experience this next time! After securing the $5000 retainer to begin to help me get my child back after false documents had be filed and executed against me. Although I wanted Shelly to represent again, she talked me into another lawyer in her firm. I went to court with him, it went well, got the false docs dropped and got time with my child again until the divorce was finished. About a month later my lawyer Hank had quit, nicely stating he was going to a more pro-dad focused firm. A week later I met with Shelly to discuss the future of our case/work relationship. She stated I could leave and take what was left of the retainer. Around $2800 left and go with Hank ( hindsight the best move,) stay with Perkins. Use Shelly or another person with Hanks credit and ability. Because of the job Shelly had done in the past I chose her to continue to represent me. A few months later and getting closer to the court date, the judge ordered a check in trial since Perkins law was working with him or even communicating who my lawyer was etc... he created a date for figure out what was going on. Perkins law and Shelly seemed to have completely forgotten about my case it seems. The day before court, Hank calls me frantically, hoping I know I have court in the morning. And is wondering if I am still his client, since Perkins law had made things/communication extremely difficult for him after leaving. I told him Shelly was supposed to be my lawyer now. I let him know I thankfully knew about it a few weeks in advance, since my ex wife and I were civil. She was confused about this check in session and we talked about it and I made sure to save the date and time. Absolutely anything besides her and Hank the night before wouldn't have ever gotten to me since that goes strat to my lawyers firm, not me....finally at around 9pm that night. Shelly calls me and tells me I have court in the morning. I let her know that luckily I had other people who had let me know or this would be the most ridiculous request. Not sure how many people could just go to court tomorrow morning without notice? I arrive at court, no Shelly to be found. Finally after the judge had waited to start to trail late waiting for my lawyer to show up we started. About 2 mins in, a older man with uncombed hair comes into the court room. Everyone of us is looking at this person like they are lost. Turns out as he comes to me that this is my lawyer. I to this day have no idea who he was, his name and lawyer was the last person or profession I thought he was when he arrived in court. He offered no counsel before or after court. The judge was visibly not impressed with this. Especially after the entire reason we are there is because Perkins Law was doing their jobs. This man apologized, gave a excuse that he was informed he had to be in court at 11am that morning. He never spoke again. My ex and I with the judge figured out where things were, what needed to be done and how to get it taken care of. Then we excused until the divorce trial. The lawyer is out of the court room before anyone else. A month later I get a call from Shelly, I'm expecting to finally be able to go over my case since it's coming up this week. When she tells me I need to come up with another $4000 for Perkins Law to continue to represent me. Also letting me know after the last court trip I'm in debt $350 to them and if I can't pay it by the end of the day, she was dropping me. Which she did. I went to court four days later, without a lawyer, without a case. Perkins law had all documents and decree's. Even the Judge was like what happened? I said they just ditched me right before the actual trail began. The first time was to fight perjury that took my child out of my custody, which I won, but the child wasn't returned...second time was for Perkins messing up, and third and should have been the only time they refused to go. To this day I get harassed to pay them $350 or so...if anything I should have still had $2800 availabe.

We followed that strategy for a year with lots of twists and turns along the way and at each junction she gave me solid advice. Child custody cases are of course always a time of emotions, and upheaval. After looking at the aspects of our particular case, Shelly quickly and efficiently came up with options for us. It wasn't a hurry up and wait...it was concise, and right now. I'm sure that wouldn't be true for all cases. I do believe that she and her staff had my family's best interests in mind. It was obvious within moments that her staff was professional, thoughtful, and well meaning. Our paperwork was prepared carefully, and expeditiously. I'm sure that we did not have the most important case for her office...but not once did it ever feel as if we were taking up anyone's time. I would suggest that if you need an office that cares, has attention to detail, knows the needs of its client, and obvious experience in child custody cases...look no further than Perkins Law.

Shelly will take your money and undermine your case. She does not listen or act on your behalf in any way. She will continue to drag things on, recommend services and other professionals to pay for only to have them undermine your case. The lack of professionalism and lack of respect given to her by judges and opposing counsel should have been my first clue. If you want to lose worse than you ever thought possible, just hire Shelly Perkins!

Shelly was an awesome attorney! She was on the expensive side but well worth it! I didn't get much out of my divorce but the one thing I did get was the only thing I cared about! More time with my children, my ex got custody because she is a woman no other reason. And she wanted to give me as little time with my children as she could. But Shelly Perkins made sure I got that time, and because of her I see my kids every week! Combined I have them 7 days every two weeks. My ex still has custody but I get to see my children more than most dads do and that was because of the work Shelly put in! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for an attorney!

I'm amazed that this attorney left a former client essentially married, after the divorce was finalized. Never seen a divorce decree without a resolution of ownership of a home. If your going to charge by the minute, or email than better make damn sure a major issue like who gets the house is resolved, and not left with both ex spouses as owners, only to be forced to resolve it two years later... I call that a major legal gap, foul up.

Sure is money hungry and will take nothing less than every minute. No responsibility to maintain knowledge of the case at hand and details involved.... but will gladly bill you for it. $50-60K spend in one year, yet being charged for sending her a forward email just of her 'entertainment' for the continued actions of my ex-wife. Most expensive email I have ever forwarded.

So my wife was cheating on me for several years. I finally told her to stop or get out. A few days later she was gone and I received a false restraining order the very next day. Knowing that everything in the RO was a lie I decided to fight it on my own but it didnt work out because I had no attorney. I fought to see my 2 boys but did not make much progress. After a few months I started consulting attorneys and went to talk to one. I was told I was dreaming, and she would not take my money and good luck. The very next day I consulted with Shelly, and while she said my case would be difficult, she was confident we would prevail. She was extremely informative, honest and fair thru the entire process and it was not an easy case by any means. I went from every other weekend with my boys to having a majority of the parenting time to now settling to an equal 50/50 split as well as a fair split of assets and no spousal support. To put things in to perspective as to what I was up against my ex wanted me to have only supervised visits once per week for 3hrs, plus outrageous spousal and child support. Without Shelly I do not know where I would have ended up, and I sure as heck don't want to know. Most of the guys I know who have gone thru a divorce have told me so many horror stories, hence the reason I tried to stay in a relationship with my cheating ex for so long. Both my boys and myself can't thank Shelly enough for what she has done for us. She is truly a Rockstar when it comes to family law. I would highly recommend her to anyone and everyone I know. I would not want to be against her in any courtroom thats for sure. She knew what my kids meant to me, and what I meant to them and she fought hard to make sure I got what was right. Thanks again Shelly. My boys and I truly can't thank you enough.

Shelly Perkins was a terrible attorney. She did not familiarize herself with our case, informed us in the beginning that we had a case. Ended up loosing and getting lectured by the judge who told her she should have known better and was wrong to file. She just cared about charging us and at the end We had to pay the lawer fees for my ex as well. I would not recommend using Elizabeth Perkins to anyone.

Save yourself money, time, and frustration. Choose a different attorney! I feel many of the "5-star" reviews on here are either solicited or possibly purchased. I used this firm and was unimpressed. Since then, almost anyone I have asked does not have nice things to say. BUYER BEWARE!
