Kari did a horrible job handling my divorce. She did not clearly explain to me the process for requesting reconciliation counseling in time and therefore that opportunity slipped by until it was too late. This was devastating as it was something that I had hoped would make a difference in saving my marriage. Also, I had presented evidence to Kari that there were approx. $60k in marital assets that I was entitled to, which Kari had acknowledged there was some evidence of but then demanded $1500 up front for discovery since my ex was lying about the existence of these assets. Maybe this is standard to demand discovery money up front but I feel that there was sufficient evidence of these assets that an attorney that was truly on my side would have given me the option to pay from my winning a settlement in court. Instead, I was unable to come up with the money and believing that I could fight for it another day, enough time lapsed that I ended up forfeiting my right to the approx $60k in marital asserts. Approximately 1 year later, the IRS sent me a bill for $17k in taxes for income (marital assets) that I never saw. I ended up self filing a motion to try to recover these funds, however, it was ruled that too much time had lapsed. I never saw a dime of this money which I believe would have given me significant leverage in my divorce case. I feel that not only did Kari refuse/fail to fight for these marital assets for me to the best of here ability but also failed to explain the time limits and statute of limitation for recourse. I did end up successfully self filing a request for 'innocent spousal relief' from the IRS so I didn't have to pay the $17k in tax. In the end I was left feeling an overwhelming sense of grief that Kari lost me the opportunity to potentially save my marriage by allowing me to fail to file the request for counseling in a timely manner but also did not do her best to help me understand how to properly fight for my marital assets which resulted in a lose of nearly $60k which would have had a significant impact on my quality of life (post divorce) and my ability to provide for my children. In the end I feel an intense sense of disappointment that Kari Kruml let me down and was somewhat disconcerned with my case and only concerned about money. I certainly feel that Kari lacked a genuine personal commitment to my case/situation.
