When I met Tom, he was the 3rd lawyer I had consultated with but after our meeting I didn't make it to see the 4th. What got me was Tom's confidence and presentation (by far the best dressed lawyer at court). He's a third generation lawyer so knowing the law was not going to be an issue but when you throw in confidence and self-assuredness, Tom stands out from other lawyers in Cedar Rapids. I had a situation that I knew was going to be expensive. See when you are faced with a legal situation, the $$$ for a good lawyer soon became less and less of a concern. My situation went longer than most, however the outcome was not only fair but more than I had initially hoped for. A lawyer helping guide you through the 'system,' while at the same time providing an outcome that's better than what you even hoped; well now that's priceless! Thank you Tom.

I came to Tom and Cassandra out of desperation to get my children back dealing with a difficult custody case. If I wouldnt have been referred to Tom I truly believe I would not have my children back in my care today. I noticed he is very respected in the court room, my previous lawyer was not so I recognized the difference. When I first met him for the free consultation he spent 2 hours talking to me and giving me free advice he did not have to give before I hired him. Tom and Cassandra are my angels. Tom took my case after everyone else turned me away. He saw an opportunity to do the right thing. He is professional and was very considerate of my time, knowing that I didn't want an outrageous bill. Very dissatisfied. Nick had my case and did great. However i do not agree with me being billed for questions and emails. my whole detainer was used but $300 dollars. The case was dismissed about 2 weeks ago. Still cant get my retainer of whats left back. What other law office do you know that does this. I never went to court even my case was dismissed. my choice. i would look elsewhere unless you got money to burn. i know i dont. Make sure you ask about returns on detainers because i was never told that in the beginning.

The absolute worst 'professional' I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.I ended up personally dismissing him from my case, I've also had to take steps to report him to the Bar Association and Ethics Review Board.Do not even bother contacting, find another lawyer.

5 starsWhen I came to Tom with a rare custody situation I was scared and anxious and felt alone I just had no idea what to do. When I met with Tom he was so welcoming and down to earth and by the end of the consultation (which was free) I knew he was the lawyer for me. Tom is kind and caring and compassionate but in court he was so focused and fought for my daughter like a father would. After 4 months of fighting for us he WON our custody case! He never lied to me or gave me false hope he told me everything from day one and I will always be forever grateful for his and his paralegals work on our case. There were alot of scary moments for me during the custody battle but when I would send an upset, confused and anxious mom email Tom would respond instantly and be there for me as a friend would. Tom is my lawyer and I am confident in his ability to do what he has to do for his clients. Obviously, I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for a lawyer. You are not alone in this, Tom will be there for you every step of the way!

We were in need of an attorney quickly one weekend and contacted Tom Viner and he was immediately engaged and helped us through a tough day. We hired him on the spot and never once did he ever not follow through and give us the best advice. We spent approximately two years going through a jury trial and he was the most compassionate, eloquent and intelligent attorney we could have asked for. He knows where to be and what to do at the right time. I can't say enough kind words to describe him and would recommend him to anyone going through a difficult situation. He knows how to get the job done!

I wish this review was positive but it certainly is not. The whole experience was very bad. The service I asked for was extremely limited, I only needed an amendment completed which was done. However the cost did not at all match the service I was provided. Then upon closing my case it took over a month to receive my prorated deposit back and the check was made out a week prior to it being mailed. After being in a severe financial pinch Viner's office did absolutely nothing to expedite my funds. I would recommend Petrezelka & Breitbach after having dealt with multiple attorneys those guys have always had my best interest at heart and won't rack up your bill for their benefit like this office did.

I hired Tom for an emotionally charged child custody case and he treated me with respect and dignity and helped understand my case in relation to Iowa law. He was truthful and kept in close contact with me regarding my case even though I was out of state. His office kept in close contact with me as well if he was unavailable, I would recommend and would hire again if I needed an attorney!
