i just got a computer from my step mother that was serviced at rahmtechi live in Kansas and rahmtech is in Indiana so my sister went to visit them and brought it home to Kansas for me i am a IT specialist and so i am like well worse case it will make a good donor, i opened it up why reviewing the invoice that said what was done and what was wrong with the laptop in question. what i found made me sick there's gold thermal paste on the cpu/video chip meaning its been replaced and that's fine but under further inspection i notice gold thermal paste bridging several circuits as well. the invoice states that they had found heat spots on the cables i inspected every cable very closely and found no burn marks on any of the cables, the only discoloration i found was on the cable going to the lid shut board no burns a little discoloring but that's to be expected since it rests right under the fan.OK next thing i see is discolored metal in ram slot connection so once again i check it out very very carefully and see no real discoloration on ram or slots besides the hold down brackets right by the cpu/video card heat sink, mind you this is very common for there to be a little given how close it is so i continue to inspect pc....next thing is discolored fan shroud. OK well lets see here the fan shroud pulls the heat from the copper pipe coming from cpu/gpu to the fan at any given time under normal loads the cpu/gpu is going to be around 150- 180 degrees so discoloration is normal on fan shroud, if anything that shows everything was working as it should..... ok on to the next.....laptop will light up one then two lights and after 20-30 seconds the cpu fan spins for 1 second and laptop shuts off. well this sounds like its trying to post so i decide to plug it in see what happens guess what it turns on everything lights up as it should the CPU fan kicks on after 5 seconds and runs for around 10 seconds and shuts off, so i decide to hook it up to a external monitor and check it out the pc shows picture on external screen bios pops up stating cpu over temp and shuts down, ok well see laptops and desktops do this to prevent damage to hardware so it seems its over heating, that's normal for older laptops that have not been properly cleaned and maintained, so i look at the golden thermal paste put on the cpu/gpu and its CAKED on there so i wipe it off with thermal paste cleaner to find the thermal paste was shorting out cpu. ok so that solves that problem next on the list is.......found short circuit through pwr switch relay integrated circuit ok time for the fun part break out muti meter and check the charge circuits and guess what i found a nice golden thermal paste very un noticeable unless your looking for it across the charge circuit shorting it out so i check everything over like a hawk to find several of the circuits have just the slightest thermal paste on them creating shorts.now on the paper it says (found short circuit through pwr switch relay caused inductor to heat and melt and the rest of the board to burn... and a note stating recommend new or refurbished laptop now i looked this board over with my magnifier lamp and checked all the circuits and found scratch's on board from a screw driver and thermal paste over scratch's as to hide them.so my final conclusion is this laptop probably just needed a good cleaning and new thermal paste in the proper amount as thermal paste can dry out and loose its effectiveness, but what i saw was far from professional.seems to me that they was more interested in creating more problems to sell a new/refurbished laptop

They used to have a location in Crawfordsville but it since closed. My first experience was there and they were great. I took my daughters laptop in as it was running funny, it also needed a new keyboard as she has gotten water on it. The man fixed what needed to be fixed and he installed a used keyboard without charging me. It had a key missing but it worked. Then before Christmas my own tower computer was acting up and not starting. I had the blue screen of death then nothing. I called and talked to Chris at their main Veedersburg location. I brought it in and of course it worked fine. He talked to me explaining Win10 and driver updates, checked things within windows. In the end he didnt charge me anything as most likely it was a driver issue that rolled back. I drove over 30 minutes to get there and I would again. They are professional, helpful, and quick. When taking to big box stores you never know when youd get your computer back. I also remember taking my husbands laptop in, his hard drive died. The man explained about a solid state hard drive. So much knowledge was gained and we did buy a new laptop after that one...big box store laptop!

Chris Rahm and his company, RahmTech, stepped in when I needed help after having network responsibilities thrown in my lap that were outside of my comfort zone. Being the Vice President of a community bank, CentreBank, I knew that the decision to hire him was an absolute must, especially given how highly regulated banks are by the government. Together, we built a network (and now maintain and improve) that continues to exceed the expectations of and even impress our auditors and government examiners. Using the expertise that Chris and his company provide have allowed me to focus on MY responsibilities at hand - which ultimately leaves the bank and our customers in the very best of hands. The confidence that I have in RahmTech has carried over into our two personal businesses and home network needs too. Thank you Chris and RahmTech!!
