During the summer of 2019, I filed for divorce after being married for 2 years. I decided to use the services of Tucker & Associates, a local firm in the area. My initial consultation was with Barry Tucker, in which he did a commendable job with explaining my options moving forward. He provided me with his hourly rate, in addition to the hourly rate of his associate - Cheri Costa. Since my case was fairly simple, as a result of the short length of time of being married, I decided to utilize this firm and I selected Barrys associate Cheri Costa. I paid a $3,500 retainer to start the process. When the process began, I had questions for Cheri via telephone and email. I could never get a straight answer from Cheri that provided specific direction on our strategy to pursue my case. She did not provide a concrete plan or options of how I would handle my 401K protection and always talked in generalities. It was clear that she was not well versed on handling this situation. As a result of my dissatisfaction, I fired this firm and asked for the balance of my retainer. Of the $3,500, I received $370 back, in which I received little to no services to support the charges. When I received the bill, I presented it to 2 other reputable firm, in which they both agreed that I was over-charged. When I challenge them on the charges, I received a letter with a plethora of confusing legal jargon to support their charges. All in all, my recommendation for anyone considering using this firm is to think twice. Al

I was going through a possible divorce and I was very emotionally distraught. Mr. Tucker explained to me that going through a divorce was a really tough, long, and likely expensive process. He suggested some resources to encourage me to try and work through my problems with my spouse. I had one additional consultation and he did not charge me anything near what I expected to have to pay. I am grateful for his humanity as a lawyer and for his honesty about how hard it would have been to continue down this path. I'm also happy to say that after I served my husband, it reminded him that he would miss me and the kids a lot if we weren't a family. It was a rough two year period, but I'm grateful that I found an attorney with a heart. That doesn't happen often, in my experience.

Berry Tucker is an excellent attorney. He is extremely knowledgeable about most aspects of the law. He is patient and understanding. I needed help after my closing on my house. He was able to come to an understanding with the buyer and get me money back. I am a happy client.

In November 2014, my husband and I met with Attorney Berry Tucker to consult with him regarding a domestic matter (child support reduction). During the consultation, I gave Mr. Tucker information and figures related to the case and he proceeded to do some calculating on his own. His calculations were incorrect, as he completed them using my husband's net income, without adding in the child support amount, which was already being deducted. He acknowledged that he was wrong and when we received the documents in the mail from him, they included the same incorrect figures he'd produced during the consultation. Two telephone conversations later, the matter was resolved. When the corrected documents were drafted, we were contacted by his office staff and told the dollar amount we needed (the total paid $1500.) to bring to them when picking up the documents. Without any additional glitches, the case was filed and the child support was reduced. THREE months later we received a bill in the mail for 1100+ additional charges! $500 of the $1100 reduced, according to the bill, as a courtesy! There were charges for the telephone calls, which were made for me to explain the calculations to the Attorney AGAIN, mileage, a phone call to the Judge, who presided over the case (why I wonder...we were not told of any nor can we think of any related need to contact the Presiding Judge). When I called the Attorney to speak with him about the bill we received THREE months after our business had concluded, his staff claimed to not know if he was in the office. NOTE: This is the SAME office we met him in, where we went to pick up and return documents and where we made payments, and unless there were some major renovations made since we visited on those occasions, his door is 5-6 feet from her desk. She would have to be blind and deaf to not know whether he were in the office or not.Three days later, when the Attorney did return my call, he said to me, 'I thought you'd be excited about the $500. courtesy discount.' Needless to say, I am not excited. I am furious that the service we agreed upon for an estimated $1500 (an amount according to him we should expect without any outstanding circumstances--which there weren't outside of the Attorney's mistake or failure to understand the math), which has now amounted to $2600+. If you need simple legal services, I STRONGLY recommend you seeking assistance from another Attorney! If you need major assistance, run! Otherwise you, like my husband and I, may receive a surprise bill in the mail, three months after your services have been rendered and told you should be excited about his COURTESY DISCOUNT!!! I felt ripped off in November ($1500 is A LOT of money for what we needed, but the matter was important enough for us to have resolved by someone, who we believed to be a professional, so we agreed to the exorbitant fee). I now feel extorted! By the way, the reason given by Mr. Tucker for the three month delay in billing was, 'we were busy taking care of business.' Last I checked, record keeping (including timely billing) is key to operating a successful and reputable business. I never expected this, but I guess that is because I expected too much! Don't wind up like us with an unwanted, unexpected courtesy dressed up and camouflaged in a three month old $1100+ BILL!!!
