Horrible!!I retired from dentistry after 45 years when my wife of 40 years, Nancy, was diagnosed with ALS. We moved to Huntsville to be near the ALS Clinic. She died last summer leaving everything to me in her will. We had some property just in her name so her will had to be probated. I knew it was simple since I had done it three times before. Unfortunately it requires a lawyer. I didnt think it was worth asking for recommendations so I googled and found Ms. Doty.She and her paralegal Ms. Carter seemed nice and sympathetic so I hired them. Out of courtesy I asked Ms. Doty how she would like me to pay her. I never had any lawyer or accountant imply I should pay before the job was done but she said, My landlord expects to be paid. Out of vulnerability I paid her whole bill.After the required six months I phoned their office to see where we stood. My phone message was not returned nor were my emails responded to. I finally got Ms. Carter on the phone and she said, Weve been very busy but Ill get it done. Ive never had a lawyer or accountant put things off that could be done in the quickest amount of time but I did with them. You expect things to be done on time and not when the time suits them. Again things drug on. I finally sent a letter to Ms. Doty and some more action took place. I was in touch with the probate judges office and found out when the papers closing the estate were finally sent in and when the judge signed them and put them in Ms. Dotys box. I waited and waited and finally went to Ms. Dotys office unannounced three weeks later and there was the signed paper closing the estate under a stack of papers on Ms. Carters desk!Ive never been treated this way by a professional and I wrote Ms. Doty asking for half my money back or Id write a review and a letter to the Alabama State Bar. Ms. Doty wrote back to say, Im sorry to hear that you are experiencing financial difficulties and that she would not refund half my money. I did sell some of my wifes property and it was in an estate checking account as required. I told Ms. Carter that after the initial six months but in no way am I having financial difficulties. What if I were? Wouldnt you want to close the estate for your client as soon as possible to help them?I have written the Alabama State Bar a four page complaint letter explaining everything with nothing but facts as I told Ms. Doty I would. I included all correspondences I had with her office and my communications with the probate judges office. The Alabama State Bar works like our Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama. I hope they will respond to my complaint about Ms. Doty like our Board would if she had been a dentist. I will never pay a lawyers total fee up front again. Like I said, with my wife just dying, I was vulnerable and wanted to trust someone. I picked the wrong people.

Possibly the worst and unprofessional attorney I have ever dealt with. All it took was an initial consultation to realize I was stepping into a hot mess of a 'professional' to make me realize I could find a better attorney at law simply by throwing a stone across any street. If you go with this firm , simply put , best of luck.

Two stars because this law firm actually answered the phone unlike most of the other places that I have called. However, the paralegal was very unfriendly over the phone, and I felt like I was being 'talked down' to. In my opinion calling someone Ma'am over and over again is very condescending and belittling.

This is the worst lawyer experience I have ever had. She has had 4 paralegals in the year I have dealt with her. It took me and my husband 2 years to save the money for my sons adoption and in September 2018 it will be a year and we still do not have his amended birth certificate. She has stolen our money and this adoption we have waited for and have celebrated is false. Not once has she called to update and let us know whats going on. I have called and called and the newest paralegal is very rude and incompetent. She admitted she hasnt called us even though the birth state of my son has supposedly had issues with what they are sending them. I dont understand why they havent sent in the correct information from the start and why a year later of this supposed adoption we still really dont have proof and havent even once called to update us. Not ONCE. Last time I called I was reprimanded for not being nice enough to the 4th paralegal they had due to me being so upset it been almost a year. I fully regret giving her our money and will be contacting someone to see about looking into her. If she offered her services for free I would still pass. DONT choose her! And now the receptionist SCREAMED at me after calling again for update!!! Wow!! I found out I can contact the bar association and us attorney general for anyone that has a problem with her!!

Very unorganized. After several meetings and having to review the same things it was apparent how disorganized this attorney was. Unfortunately I felt stuck with her. I have some resolution in that I have contacted the Alabama Attorney's office for some direction. It is apparent she wants your money only without helping to resolve your case.
